Queer Stories, Queer Voices
I explore the interiority of gay lives—what psychologist Walt Odets, in Out of the Shadows, calls “nothing more or less than human thoughts, feelings, and needs, mostly shared and familiar to all.”
Through my reviews and interviews, I highlight literature that captures the depth and complexity of LGBTQ+ experiences. From personal narratives to cultural critiques, I focus on the books and ideas that challenge, affirm, and expand how we see ourselves and our place in the world.
Book Reviews for The Gay & Lesbian Review
This bimonthly magazine targets an educated LGBTQ+ reader on topics like history, culture, and politics. In my reviews, I cover subjects such as art, drag, design, and poetry.

“Michael is an accomplished and reliable wordsmith who offers keen insight, incisive observations, and deft turns of phrase. I could count on him to submit well-written, intelligent-but-relatable documents on time and within the appropriate word count. He is also personable and a joy to communicate and work with. I would hire him in a second anytime I need a writer.”
